Seattle Supersonics tickets can deliver the goods in 2005-2006, if head coach Bob Weiss can remold a team that experienced the loss of old school players like Jerome James and Antonio Daniels. But with talent waiting in the wings in the form of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, and youngsters with huge potential like Luke Ridnour and Nick Collison, Weiss may have Supersonics ticket buyers lining up outside Key Arena for the chance to see a Northwest Division Champion.

The Seattle Supersonics were born as an expansion team for the 1967-68 season. The expansion team blues were in evidence as the Supersonics finished with a 23-59 record. They did however manage to pick up some talent in their first year, signing Walt Hazard, future Bob Weiss and Rod Thorn.

After a couple of losing seasons, Seattle became embroiled in a dispute with the Detroit Pistons over the rights to ABA phenom Spencer Heywood. After a court battle, Heywood joined the Supersonics and played in 33 games, averaging over 20 points a game. Heywood hit full stride in the ’71-72 season, leading the team with a 26.2 point per game average and achieving an invite to the All-Star Game. That season marked the Supersonics first winning season at 47-35, but also saw the Sonics trade their player/ coach Larry Wilkens to the Cavaliers, a loss sorely felt the next season.

NBA legend Bill Russell joined the Supersonics as GM and head coach in 1973 and had an immediate impact. The Sonics posted their first playoff appearance in 1975 with a 43-win season. The first-round match-up against the Detroit Pistons went well, but the eventual NBA Champion Golden State Warriors eliminated the Sonics in the second round.

After reaching the NBA Finals in 1978, the Supersonics landed an NBA Championship in 1979. Finishing the regular season at 52-30 rewarded Seattle with a first-round bye. A six-game series win over the Los Angeles Lakers advanced Seattle to the Western Conference Finals and a showdown with the Phoenix Suns. After jumping out to a 2-0 series advantage, Seattle lost two straight to let the Suns even the series. The Sonics suffered a home loss to fall behind 3-2. Only a heart stopping 106-105 win kept hope alive for Seattle fans. In a dramatic 114-110 in Game 7 win put the Supersonics into the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. Their opponent would be the Washington Bullets. But it would be the Sonics that would have the smoking gun. In a swift five games, the Sonics claimed their first NBA Championship.

2005-2006 Seattle Supersonics tickets will provide the answer to whether Bob Weiss, who has held three other head coaching positions in the NBA, can keep the franchise moving forward. It looks like the talent is there, but with an improving Northwest Division that includes the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves, Weiss has his work cut out for him. Regardless of whether the Supersonics can win the division, a playoff spot is an obtainable goal, which makes Seattle Supersonics tickets and a seat in Key Arena a great combination for NBA fun and excitement.
